MIMOWUKAW ACCOMMODATIONS Our modern lodge is in the heart of big game country on the shores of Candle Lake.   It features a large lounge area where guests like to relax by the fire place in the evening to share their adventures.   The fully modern bedrooms have 2 comfortable beds to accommodate two hunters.   We pride ourselves in providing excellent and generous home cooked meals.   Good food and rest are important for a good effort on the hunt. HUNTING AREA Candle Lake Outfitters exclusive area of more than 90,000 acres lies to the east of Prince Albert National Park, 150 miles NE of Saskatoon airport.   It is bordered on the west side by Candle Lake Game Preserve, a "no hunting" game reservoir.   The Torch River and small creeks all part of the Saskatchewan River system run through the area.   Hardwood stands and willow meadows along with evergreen forest provide ideal habitat for game.   Forest harvest in scattered blocks ensures abundant browse.   This game rich area with a growing deer herd has consistently produced BIG bucks. TROPHY WHITETAIL Most clients come during the winter rut for a six day hunt.   We have the best success hunting from enclosed, heated ground and tree stands over looking active bait sites along traditional deer trails.   Hunting scrapes and rattling are other options.   The guide to hunter ratios is 1 to 2. CANDLE LAKE OUTFITTERS is a personalized operation open to a limited number of clients.   To ensure a quality hunt, we like to have no more than two hunters per guide.   My late father, Joe Helbig, in 1929 took a homestead nearby to farm.   In the 1950's he started our family tourist business at our present site on Candle Lake.   In 1990 I received my outfitting license and began guiding big game hunters.   Our knowledge of the area and trophy game, along with great hospitality, will make your hunt an enjoyable and memorable experience.   "What an adventure! BEAR HUNTS Six day bear hunts over active baits are available in the spring.   The area has a good percentage of color phase.   The proximity of the "no hunting" game preserve raises the odds for a mature trophy.   Many hunters combine their hunt with angling for northern pike and walleye. FISHING Boat and motor rentals. Shoreline fishing on Candle Lake and Torch River. BOOKING A HUNT All hunts are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Early reservation with deposit will guarantee your spot.
